Samsung debuted its Galaxy M10 (Review) and M20 (Review) smartphones in India a few days ago, and both the phones have seemingly won the hearts of consumers after quickly going out of stock in the last two flash sales. But the M10 and M20 are not the only Galaxy M phones Samsung plans to launch this year. There have been reports of a Galaxy M30 as well that could launch sooner than expected. While we still await an exact launch date, a new tip seems to have outed some key specifications.
A SlashLeaks contributor revealed the specs of the alleged Galaxy M30 smartphone. The Galaxy M30 may come with a similar Infinity-V waterdrop display as the M10 and M20. As per the tipster, the M30 will get a 6.38-inch FHD+ (1080×2220), but it is unclear whether it will be a TFT or AMOLED display. We are leaning towards it being an AMOLED display considering the M30 will be priced higher up the price scale.
The tipster also mentions a 5,000mAh battery for the M30 much like the M20, and this is in line with past reports as well. Perhaps the biggest USP of the M30 is that it may come with a triple rear camera setup like the Galaxy A7 last year. If we assume a price point around Rs 15,000, the M30 has the potential to be the cheapest phone with a triple camera system. To recall, the Galaxy A7 (2018) was launched starting at Rs 23,990, but is currently available at Rs 18,990.
The triple camera setup on the back may include a 13MP f/1.9 primary sensor and two 5MP f/2.2 sensors. There is no mention of what kind of lenses Samsung is going with. A standard, ultra wide-angle and telephoto lens combination can be assumed for now, but we should know more at a later stage.
The specs leak also mentions an Exynos 7904 for the Galaxy M30, which is the same chipset that powers the M20 as well. The M30 may be offered in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The handset will reportedly measure 159×75.1x 8.4mm and will weigh 175 grams. Like the A7 (2018), the M30 may come in a gradient design with gradient colours in blue and black.
